An aquatic ecosystem refers to the interaction between the organisms and the water environment they live in. For aquarists, these may be freshwater, saltwater or brackish water ecosystems. An ecosystem consists of both living and non-living components. A saltwater ecosystem may differ from a freshwater ecosystem in factors such as salinity, and variations in pH or types of organisms, amongst other things. You will learn about the aquatic ecosystem and the differences between freshwater, salt water, and brackish water.
